Panevezys and Cido Arena

Panevezys is the fifth largest Lithuanian city located in the North-eastern part of the country. First mentioned in 1503, Panevezys lies on both banks of river Nevezis and celebrated its 500th anniversary in 2003. The city itself is situated halfway between two Baltic capitals – Vilnius and Riga and is fairly easy to reach due to the good geographical location and good road infrastructure.

The cities basketball traditions are fairly deep – Panevezys had one of the oldest clubs in the country (established in 1964), but the old club Panevezys was blown off the map in 2007. However, an initiative from a local technology business kept club basketball alive in the city as a new team Techasas was formed in the same year.
