
Zalgiris Kaunas took revenge for the loss in Riga, as they defeated VEF 86-71 (19-21, 25-16, 26-23, 16-11) in a VTB United League matchup.
Zalgiris sit atop of Group B with a record of 13-1. Meanwhile, VEF are fourth, having won 9 of 14 VTB games this season.
This was the first game for Robertas Javtokas this season, after being out with injury since the summer. The big man scored his single point from the free-throw line, added 2 rebounds and ended the game with 4 ranking points.
The game went back and the first quarter and a half. But then Zalgiris ran off to a 26-8 run and amassed a 17-point lead.
VEF managed to cut the lead to seven before the fourth quarter, but Zalgiris proved to be too strong in the final minutes.
Darjus Lavrinovic was the top scorer for Zalgiris with 14 points. He also recorded 7 rebounds. Mindaugas Kuzminskas added 12 points, while Paulius Jankunas had 11 to his name. Oliver Lafayette chipped in with 10. Marko Popovic, Tremmell Darden and Rimantas Kaukenas all finished the game with 9 points.
Willie Daniels led VEF in scoring, as he dropped 22 points. Donatas Zavackas and Kristaps Janicenoks ended the game with 8.
