
Zalgiris Kaunas secured at least the second seed in VTB United league’s Group B, alongside a spot in the quarterfinals after sweeping in a 86-61 (30-19, 16-17, 19-14, 21-11) victory against Enisey Krasnoyarsk at home.
The two best teams in each group automatically advance to the quarterfinals, while the third–sixth placed teams will battle in the eighth-finals.
Zalgiris took control of the game playing solid defense in the first quarter, forcing their opponents to commit consecutive turnovers. By the end of the first quarter, the Lithuanian side already held an 11-point lead.
Zalgiris held a safe distance throughout the game, while making the final surge in the fourth quarter. The team from Kaunas upped their lead to the low-thirties in the start of the fourth quarter.
Mindaugas Kuzminskas had an impressive outing, as he scored 22 points and raked in 8 rebounds. Adas Juskevicius chipped in with 14 points, while Rimantas Kaukenas and Ksistof Lavrinovic ended the game with 12 each. Robertas Javtokas had a season-high 10 points and 7 rebounds.
Jerry Jefferson was the leading scorer for Enisey, as he dropped in 16 points. Elmedin Kikanovic contributed 14, while Hasan Rizvic finished the game with 10.
