Clubs from around Lithuania have decided to strengthen their roster mid-season, as new arrivals change players who did not succeed to get a strong spot in the line-up.
Sudova Marijampole said good-bye to three players after the New Year, but signed a veteran center Marius Janisius, who has already played for the club in the 2006-2007 season. The 32-year-old player started the season in the second French division club Charleville, but decided to terminate the contract on mutual agreement in November.
Janisius played 8 games for the French side and averaged 12,4 points and 7,5 rebounds per each. The Sudovian club parted ways with American center Kenneth Simms, who did not fulfill the expectations. Zygimantas Sestokas will also not play in the club any more, while Mantas Ruikis decided to continue his career elsewhere.
Audrius Stasaitis will be replaced by Vytautas Buzas in the Techasas Panevezys roster.
Stasaitis started the season with Suduva and played only three LKL games for the side from Panevezys, averaging 3,3 points.
The new arrival at the club, Buzas, started the season in Naglis-Adakaris Palanga of the second tier Lithuanian basketball. The 21-year-old player has already tried his luck in LKL, when he played in Neptunas Klaipeda for two seasons.
After a tragic start of the season, Nevezis Kedainiai are strenghtening their squad with the 184 cm guard Gediminas Butkus.
The 20-year-old playmaker started the season in Erelita-KTU Kaunas in the second Lithuanian division.
Butkus had already signed with Nevezis in the 2007-2008 season, but did not make his debut then.
Neptunas Klaipeda has announced that guard Mindaugas Girdziunas will play for the side in the Baltic Basketball League. The player will continue playing for third-tier Lithuanian Regional Basketball League team Tekoda Klaipeda, where he has been averaging 22,5 points and 3 assists.
