Lietuvos Rytas’ management chairman Jonas Vainauskas was happy with the changes in the club and expects that the mid-season works will improve the team’s chances to be successful in the future.

“We have a good base on which to work on for the next season,” said Vainauskas, who claims that the team even increased in strength.

According to the manager, the biggest task for this season is the Lithuanian League (LKL), where Lietuvos Rytas needs to finish ahead of Zalgiris Kaunas to guarantee an automatic spot in next year’s Euroleague.

“Milosevic came to the team at the right time. The player will stay at the club for the next year and I expect him to strengthen the roster. Everything will be all right,” Vainauskas commented on the new Lietuvos Rytas’ playmaker Igor Milosevic. “There shouldn’t be any more additions, we’ll see. The team is filled for this season. Looking for missing pieces will start in summer.”

The key players of Lietuvos Rytas have been allowed to take a ten-day rest, while the one’s, who hadn’t got that much playing time are training hard with the assistant coaches. “I believe we’ll start the second half of the season with a lot of energy”, said Vainauskas.

“The rules are very clear. We have to win LKL or the Euroleague qualification tournament. We can also expect a wild card. Everything’s achievable and I hope to play in Euroleague,” said the chairman of Lietuvos Rytas management. “First of all, I hope to win the LKL title, we’ll see other opportunities if we don’t succeed.”
