Rudupis Prienai couldn’t hold the advantage that they had after the first leg of the Baltic Basketball League (BBL) Challenge Cup finals. The Lithuanian side was thrashed 71:107 (17:29, 17:29, 18:27, 20:22) by Norchoping Dolphins in Sweden. The side from Prienai held a ten-point lead from the first leg of the final after winning the home game 87:77.
Giedrius Jankauskas was the cornerstone for Rudupis in this game scoring 24 points, Gintautas Vileita had 11 while Povilas Sakinis and Gediminas Orelik finished with 7 each.
George Gervin top-scored for Dolphins with 24, Joakim Kjellbom collected 16 points and 12 boards, as Dee Ayuba and Fred Drains both had 13.
Even despite losing the final, Rudupis will have a chance to play in the promotion/relegation game against Nevezis, who finished last in the first division, for a place in the Elite Division as the Swedish team cannot advance to the top tier due to the league’s regulations.
The hosts controlled the game from the get-go spurting 10:2 in the beginning of the game to blast ahead 25:15. Dolphins went on another run and were already up 42:22 and the gap between the teams kept increasing.
