“Of course. We worked hard for the full season just to get that home-court advantage, but lost it already in the first game. We wanted to get back at them,” said Gecevicius.
The player spoke about games getting more important as the series goes on and that they did what they had to do to give themselves the best chance of winning the championships. “We started where we were. It’s just that the series is at 1-1, not 0-0,” the guard told.
Gecevicius echoed his coach’s thoughts that the improved defense was the most important thing. “We had problems defending the pick and roll in game one. Our defense was much better and Zalgiris didn’t play as well as they did in the first game. We played much smarter both on offense and on defense,” the player said after the game.
Zalgiris fans used some rude chants towards Lietuvos Rytas players, but Gecevicius wasn’t to complain: “That’s their problem, but that just motivates us more. We all want to prove that Zalgiris fans are talking nonsense. We are professionals and we are just playing basketball.”
