Siauliai finished the sweep in the bronze medal series of
the Lithuanian League (LKL) by flying past the visiting Juventus side at home
in Siauliai on Wednesday. The hosts defeated Juventus 87-67 to take the series 3-0. This was the seventh year in a row when Siauliai finished third in the LKL.
The visitors from Utena opened the scoring as Zydrunas Urbonas nailed a long-range attempt, but this was the one and only time Juventus had a lead as Siauliai marched on a 12-0 run to jump ahead. In an instant, the home team was already up by double-digits leading 16-5.
Just like the first quarter, the second part of the game was all one way traffic. Deivydas Gailius scored ten points in a row by himself and Siauliai were ahead up by 24 points, 43-19.
Arvydas Siksnius paced Siauliai with 23 points, 16 of which came in the first quarter as Derrick Low scored 18. Deivydas Gailius finished with 12 after a great second quarter and Vytautas Sarakauskas was just one rebound shy of a double-double scoring 10 points and adding 9 boards.
Juventus’ Darius Pakamanis led his team in scoring with 18 points, also adding 9 rebounds while Zydrunas Urbonas and Tomas Jasulionis finished the game with 12 and 11 respectively.
