“It’s hard for me to talk about this, because Lithuania was robbed once again. And you’re all helping them,” Vladimir Romanov told the journalists and left without any further comments.
However, Zalgiris starting point guard Mantas Kalnietis had no clues on what’s going on outside the court.
“It was all fair and square. Stepas (Babrauskas) came to me after the game and said ‘We didn’t buy anything’. I understand that, we didn’t sell anything. Of course, there were talks, but I think that both Lietuvos Rytas’ and Zalgiris’ players gave their best on the court,” Mantas Kalnietis said.“I don’t understand anything. I have no idea of who sold what. We lost on the court.”
Mantas Kalnietis said that Zalgiris rushed too much in the second half and committed a lot of turnovers, which the opponents used to full extent. “Everything was OK in the first half of the game, but Lietuvos Rytas ran away in the third and got a psychological advantage,” Kalnietis said.
“If we had won LKL, I could rate the season as not bad at all. There’s still something to aim for. We barely made it to the Top 16 in Euroleague, that’s all right… We won BBL, but lost LKL,” Zalgiris point guard summed up the season.
