
However, the 36-year-old veteran forward wasn’t satisfied with his role in the club and will wait for a change in the coaching staff or will continue his career elsewhere. Stombergas has no idea where he’ll continue his career, but one thing is for certain – he will not play for a team coached by Valdemaras Chomicius, who was at the helm of Unics Kazan this season.
“If there’s a new coach in Unics and he’ll decide whether the club needs me or not. I’ll go there if I’m needed,” said Stombergas. “If coach Chomicius was to stay, I doubt he’ll need me. The season showed that this coach in particular doesn’t find me useful.”
Stombergas averaged 7,7 points and 2,9 rebounds in the VTB United League and scored 5,4 points on average both in Eurocup and the Russian League.
