Rudupis remains undefeated in the BBL Challenge Cup after taking a 95:89 victory against Suduva in Prienai.
Povilas Sakinis scored 26 points on 5-12 from beyond the arch, Giedrius Jankauskas had 22 points with all 9 2 points attempts going down as Gytis Andrijauskas nailed 4 three pointers to bring his tally to 21. The Sudovians were led by Aurimas Kieza, who had 27 and Rashaun Broadus with 25 points and 7 assists.
The hosts Rudupis had a wonderful start of the game and were leading by 17 as the first quarter was moving to the end. Suduva could not change the path of events even after a couple of time outs by head coach Kestutis Juozaitis. Rudupis had a 19 point lead in the second period.
Halftime did not bring any good news for the guests as their deficit reached 24 points at 40:64. Only having reached rock bottom, the visitors started looking for a way out. A 34 point fourth quarter was not enough, even though Suduva had made it a one possession game at 87:90.
Alytus proved too strong for Aisciai, winning 84:79 on the road in Kaunas.
Vytenis Lipkevicius had a game-high 24 points with 5 assists for Aisciai, as Gediminas Zyle added a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds. Alytus' was top scored by Paulius Kleiza with 21 and Vytautas Tatarunas added 18 points to go with 9 boards.
The young and talented Aisciai side started aggressively and built a 14 point lead at 32:18, but the guests made it an all-square affair as teams left the court for halftime. Paulius Kleiza made the game even once again, by making a free throw for Alytus in the third period - 57:57. Alytus took the initiative after this episode and with 49 seconds remaining, the visitors were ahead 79:74.
Perlas lost once again, as they were crushed 68:84 by Latvian side Zemgale on the road in Jelgava.
Perlas' leaders were Zydrunas Kelys with 20 points and 6 assists and Jonas Valanciunas, who had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Edgars Krumins and Maris Gulbis scored 18 points each for the hosts.
The visitors were in the lead early in the game 27:20, but Zemgale went on a 19:3 run to take the score to 39:30. From this moment on, the game went only downwards for the youngsters from Vilnius.
Juventus defeated visiting Techasas 95:76 in Utena to take a second victory in the BBL Challenge Cup.
Audrius Mineikis scored 17 to lead the hosts as Arunas Vasiliauskas, Jonas Elvikis and Paulius Morkeliunas all had 14 points for Juventus. Techasas' Laimonas Lukosevicius netted 17, Ernestas Ezerskis scored 16 and dished out 8 assists.
Juventus went ahead early and were ahead 23:12. The second quarter saw the hosts take an even bigger lead at 47:30, but Techasas' 9:0 run left an 8 point advantage to Juventus. The team from Utena ran away once again and regained a 17 point lead with 66:49 on the scoreboard and after playing the last quarter calmly, cealed the victory.
Sakalai lost on a road trip to Sweden as Dophins came out on top on the Lithuanian club 101:87.
Dolphins were led by George Gervin with 24 and Joe McNaull added 20. Virginijus Sirvydis had a game-high 31 and Gintaras Leonavicius score 16 for Sakalai.
After holding on tight in the first quarter, Sakalai let the hosts away and fell behind 26:40. Dolphins lead reached 20 and later grew to 25 (70:45), but the club from Vilnius made a comeback, bringing the game to 8 at 83:91.
