Despite previous reports that Steponas Babrauskas won’t stay with Lietuvos Rytas for another year, it has been announced that the player will put his signature on a new contract in the nearest future. The club did not exercise a team option after his previous two-year deal expired.

“It’s hard to imagine Lietuvos Rytas without Babrauskas. He is the best team captain the club ever had. The fans, the player himself and the team wanted the player to stay in Vilnius,” Jonas Vainauskas, the General Manager of Lietuvos Rytas, said.

The 26-year-old collected an average of 7 points and 2.6 rebounds in Euroleague and his statistics in the Lithuanian League (LKL) were even better – 9.6 points, 3.0 boards and 1.4 assists per game.
