One of the best Lithuanian players of his generation Arvydas Macijauskas will not be jobless after retiring from professional basketball earlier in the summer. The sharp-shooter has joined the coaching staff of Perlas Vilnius as an assistant coach to the newly appointed head coach Nerijus Zabarauskas.

“The team offered to join and I happily accepted. One stage of my life ended, the other will begin in a short while. I want to help younger players and learn a lot myself,” Macijauskas said.

Perlas’ director Giedrius Aidietis, former player himself, was happy with the Macijauskas decision. “I think that Perlas is the ideal place for a beginning coach to both give something to the players and get some knowledge as well,” Aidietis smiled.

The club from Vilnius finished eighth out of thirteen in the Lithuanian League (LKL) standings last season.
