The U18 European Championship in Vilnius starts today. The Lithuanian national team will be aiming for the highest – that’s what the coach Kazys Maskvytis and the main players from the team confirmed in a press conference before the beginning of the tournament.

“We’re at 80-90 percent of our capabilities at the moment and we’ll try to reach top gear already during the championship. I’m very happy that we’ve managed to keep our key players healthy and will aim for the highest results,” said coach Maskvytis.

The leader of this Lithuanian team, Lietuvos Rytas center Jonas Valanciunas, was clear about the goal to reach the podium and added that the team will always put as much effort as they possibly can, maybe even more.

The tournament will take place in two nearby arenas – Siemens Arena and Lietuvos Rytas’ Arena from July 22 until August 1. U18 European Championship is the second most prestigious FIBA Europe event after the men’s Eurobasket.
