
Jonas Valanciunas’ game finally lived up to the expectations – the big man scored 28 points on 12-of-13 shooting in the first half alone.
With the coach limiting court-time for Valanciunas, the Lithuanian leader finished the game with 34 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots – all in 27 minutes.
Lithuania had a four point lead early in the second quarter when Jonas Valanciunas had a show of his own scoring ten points in a row to lead a 15-6 run that gave the hosts a thirteen point lead at 41-28.
There was no looking-back after halftime – Tautvydas Sabonis scored two points to give Lithuania a 24-point lead (64-40).
The rest of the game as close to formality as it ever gets but Lithuania kept increasing its lead and finished the game with an amazing 104-63 lead.
Deividas Pukis scored 20 points providing back-up for Valanciunas, Edgaras Ulanovas and Dovydas Redikas had 11 each as Tautvydas Sabonis finished the game with 7.
