Another day in the U18 European Championship went like usual for the Lithuanian youngsters, who swept past Spain 77-58 (20-14, 18-18, 24-17, 15-9). The Lithuanian team is the one and only team still undefeated in the whole tournament and this win by 19 points was the smallest when it comes to the margin of victory.

Jonas Valanciunas opened the scoring with a jump hook, but Spain looked to be the most serious opposition Lithuania had faced so far and didn’t let the hosts get into a solid lead as the home side led only 20-14 after the first quarter.

The second period began well for Lithuania as they got into a 15 point lead (31-16), but once again let it slip away. Spain narrowed the gap and finished the first half only with a six point deficit.

The Spaniards got within 3 after halftime, but Lithuania used a 12-2 run to get ahead 51-38.

The fourth quarter was only a formality, but the home team, cheered by a full arena, only increased their lead.

Jonas Valanciunas finished with 20 points and 6 boards as the coach sat him for the entire fourth quarter due to a very slippery court, Deividas Pukis had 19 points and Edgaras Ulanovas added 9.
