It seems that Perlas Vilnius has really decided to take the second year in the Lithuanian League (LKL) very seriously. Lietuvos Rytas’ secondary team reached an agreement with Croatian coach Ivan Sunara, who’ll become the head coach of the club.
The 51-year-old Sunara will take over as the head coach from Nerijus Zabarauskas, 38, who was previously appointed in this position, but will now slip down to an assistant coach position.
“After it became clear that our leaders Eimantas Bendzius, Paulius Dambrauskas and Giedrius Staniulis would be staying in Perlas and some other talented young-guns would be joining them, our ambitions increased. That’s why we chose an experienced coach like Sunara,” said the club’s director Giedrius Aidietis.
Coach Sunara has worked with players such as Bostjan Nachbar, Matjaz Smodis, Marko Tomas and Goran Dragic.
Former Lithuanian player Arvydas Macijauskas will also be among Perlas’ coaching staff as well.
