
One of the youngest teams of the tournament showed how strong they really are by defeating the favorite Serbian national team 99-88 (23-22, 25-16, 24-16, 27-34) in the bronze medal game.

Despite a very poor start, Lithuanians broke away from Serbia in the second quarter behind a run inspired by Linas Kleiza.
Team Lithuania already held a 10-point lead at halftime and further increased the gap in the second half as the lead reached 18 at 54-40.
Serbs managed to pull back, but were far from bringing getting all the way back to the game, as Lithuanians showed no signs of hesitation late in the game cruising to a historical win.
The last time Lithuania had triumphed in an International even was in 2007 when the Baltic side took Eurobasket bronze in Spain. Lithuanians have already won bronze in three Olympic Games as well – 1992, 1996 and 2000.
