Arturas Milaknis played surprisingly well

Zalgiris Kaunas has played out a four-team tournament in France leading up the start of the new season. The Lithuanians ended up winning one of the three games, but it has to be said the Lithuanian League runners-up played without some of their key players.

The tournament was started with Zalgiris losing to Sarthe Basket Le Mans 66-79 (18-25, 14-20, 19-19, 15-15).

The Lithuanians played without Travis Watson and Mindaugas Kuzminskas as Arturas Milaknis led the team in scoring with 16 points. DeJuan Collins had 15 points, Aleksandar Capin added 11 as Mirza Begic had 8 points and 7 rebounds.

Zalgiris lost the second game as well, this time 78-85 (15-26, 21-29, 24-18, 18-12) to Caja Laboral.

DeJuan Collins was on top of the scorers list with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals as Paulius Jankunas added 16 points of his own. Mirza Begic had 15 points, Tadas Klimavicius scored 12 and Aleksandar Capin finished with 9.

The third and final game of the tournament for Zalgiris was the best one as the club from Kaunas defeated Cholet Basket 85-70 (20-16, 25-17, 22-22, 18-15.

Arturas Milaknis scored 19 points on 5-of-7 shooting from 3-point land. Paulius Jankunas scored 11 points and added 7 rebounds. Mrza Begic, Mantas Kalnietis and DeJuan Collins all finished the game with 10 as Aleksandar Capin had 9.
