Lietuvos Rytas got a pre-season wakeup call as the Lithuanian champions let a chance to win the first trophy of the season slip by losing 57-61 (17-15, 14-17, 11-9, 15-20) to Tartu Rock in the Baltic Basketball League (BBL) Cup final.

The game was tied at 52-52 in the 38 minute of the game when the Estonians swished two three-pointers in quick succession from the same corner to go into the lead 58-54.

Lietuvos Rytas couldn’t their offense going late in the game, continuing to struggle as they had throughout the game as Tartu Rock sealed the game with successful free throws.

Jerry Johnson led the Lithuanians in scoring with 14 points and Kenan Bajramovic added 10 as no other Lietuvos Rytas player managed to get into double-digits in a low-scoring game.

Milko Bjelica finished the game with 7 points while Jonas Valanciunas and Martynas Gecevicius shared 6 points each.

Janar Talts had a team-high 14 points for Rock, Vallo Allingu contributed with 12 and Callistus Eziukwu scored 11 points.
