Zalgiris continued its successful start in the Lithuanian league (LKL) moving to a 3-0 record after an 80-74 (20-18, 13-19, 27-17, 20-20) against Rudupis on the road in Prienai.

The home team held on close from the first minutes of the game and went on a run in the beginning of the second half that saw them grab the lead for a short period of time in the third quarter at 46-39 after Gediminas Orelikas nailed two three-pointers in a row for Rudupis.

However, Zalgiris’ guard Arturas Milaknis answered back with three long-range shots to tie the score at 50-50 and a further 7-0 run for the club from Kaunas a bit later saw them go into a 62-54 lead. Zalgiris didn’t let the advantage slip to get the third win out of three in the domestic league.

Arturas Milaknis was the unexpected top-scorer for Zalgiris with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting from downtown. Mantas Kalnietis chipped in 13 points for the guests, Travis Watson and Martynas Pocius added 11 each as Paulius Jankunas scored 6.

The on-loan Adas Juskevicius dropped in 17 points and dished out 6 assists against his former team, Edgaras Zelionis had 15 for Rudupis and Gediminas Orelikas made only 3-of-11 three-pointers but still got his point tally to 13. Gytis Andrijauskas and Vytenis Lipkevicius both finished the game with 9 points.
