
Lietuvos Rytas moved to 2-0 in the Lithuanian league (LKL) after a road win against the side from Klaipeda, who is now 1-2.
The visitors burst ahead from the get-go and went into a double-digit lead (16-6) with the first quarter nearing to the end. Lietuvos Rytas managed to keep the distance until the middle of the third period, when the hosts went on an 8-0 run to close the gap to 40-43.
When the game seed to be getting more and more exciting, the visitors from Vilnius answered back with an 18-3 spurt of their own and pretty much decided the final outcome of the game. Neptunas managed to shrink the deficit to a reasonable distance but it was all too late for the hosts.
Darius Maskoliunas coached the team in the game as Aleksandr Trifunovic landed in Vilnius only today and was rushed off to watch the game from right away.
Kenan Bajramovic had a game-high 18 points to lead Lietuvos Rytas, Milko Bjelica scored 12 as Martynas Gecevicius was just shy off a double-double with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Jonas Valanciunas had a good game as well finishing the match with 10 points, 7 boards and 5 blocked shots.
Neptunas was led by Mindaugas Stasys and Robertas Bitinas, who both had 17 points. Martynas Mazeika added 10 while Julius Zurna chipped in with 8.
