“I’m surprised that this we have managed to string a couple of games, where we didn’t really have a bad stretch. It’s great that the players gave their best and I can already see which players I can trust more on the court,” said Antanas Sireika, the coach of Siauliai, after a major upset.
David Weaver had one of his best games in a Siauliai jersey finishing the night with a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Darius Gvezdauskas scored 14 points, including two clutch three-pointers, which allowed Siauliai to erase the deficit, as Mario Delas and Rashaun Broadus finished the game with 13 points each.
“We only had maybe two good stretches in the game. There were problems with rebounds, but Siauliai didn’t really surprise us,” said Lietuvos Rytas coach Aleksandr Trifunovic after the defeat.
Martynas Gecevicius had a game-high 24 points, but it wasn’t enough for Lietuvos Rytas to avoid the upset. Milko Bjelica scored 14 points, Jonas Valanciunas dropped in 13 while Khalid El-Amin added 11 for the team from Vilnius.
