After the first part of the Top 16 stage was winless for Zalgiris, the club from Kaunas decided to strengthen the roster with an American big man Trent Plaisted, who will arrive to Lithuania from Cedevita Zagreb. It is reported that the current Lithuanian League (LKL) leaders Zalgiris have signed the 24-year-old player until the end of the season.
Plaisted was selected by the Seattle Supersonics with the 46 pick in the 2008 NBA draft after a successful season at Brigham Young University, where he averaged 15.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in the NCAA. However, the American couldn’t make it into the roster of an NBA side and ended up signing with Angelico Biella in Italy.
The player got injured already after the first couple of games and had to miss the entire season, before signing with Zadar in the summer of 2009. Plaisted’s career continued in Croatia, but in a different club as the tall American was inked by Cedevita, where he averaged 9.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in the Eurocup.
