The Lithuanian League (LKL) will possibly have a different face next season, as it is reported that Perlas Vilnius are considering  the option of withdrawing from the league. The team was part of the Lithuanian top division the last two years.

“It’s still too soon to comment this. No decision has been made yet, but everything should become much clearer in the nearest future, possibly even next week,” said Antanas Muraska, the President of Perlas.

If a vacancy was to open up, the champions of the Lithuanian second division (NKL) Pieno Zvaigzdes would be looking to take the place of the team from Vilnius. The team from Pasvalys lost the promotion/relegation playoffs to Naglis, but still has hopes of joining the LKL.
