Travis Watson will not stay in Kaunas

Zalgiris Kaunas is looking to build on success and will be looking to have a slightly look next year, despite taking the Lithuanian championship without any major problems. Only two of the seven foreign players – Omar Samhan and DeJuan Collins – have guaranteed contracts for next season.

It looks like the agents of Trent Plaisted and Travis Watson will have a busy summer looking for possible destinations for their clients, as Zalgiris has taken a decision not to extend contracts with the two American big men.

“We are still undecided about Marcus Brown. What’s clear is that Trent Plaisted is leaving and we’re looking for a player to replace him. Travis Watson will most likely be on the move as well,” said Paulius Motiejunas, the club’s General Director.

Zalgiris is also considering the option of keeping the Serbian giant Boban Marjanovic, but the player, who is on loan from CSKA Moscow, is on a big salary, most of which Zalgiris has to cover. According to BasketNews.lt, the big man gets around $300,000 per year and still has a two year contract with the Russian club. The size of the salary might be the only thing keeping Marjanovic from staying in Kaunas.
