Jonas Valanciunas was selected by the Toronto Raptors in the 2011 NBA Draft, while Donatas Motiejunas dropped to the end of first round where the Minnesota Timberwolves picked him up before trading to the Houston Rockets.

Despite multiple sources telling that Jonas Valanciunas will probably be drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers, who chose playmaker Kyrie Irving as the number one overall pick in the draft and also had the fourth selection in the disposition, the team decided to go with another big man Tristan Thompson.

However, the 19-year-old Lietuvos Rytas center didn’t drop much lower, as the Toronto Raptors, who were drafting immediately after the Cavaliers, went for Valanciunas with their fifth pick which will increase the number of Lithuanians at the club to two, with Linas Kleiza also on the team’s books.

The story for the other Lithuanian wasn’t as sweet. Donatas Motiejunas didn’t hear his name until the 20th when the Timberwolves decided to take the skilled power forward and dealt him to Houston straightaway.
