Alejandro Vaquera, one of the leading Physical Conditioning coaches in European basketball, will be involved in the delivery of the MSc in European Basketball Coaching Science in Kaunas (Lithuania) this summer. The MSc in European Basketball Coaching Science, which is awarded by the University of Worcester, in partnership with the Lithuanian Academy for Physical Education and with Lithuanian Basketball Federation (with the whole course being endorsed by FIBA Europe), attracts students from across the globe and Alejandro Vaquera will bring them a practical and theoretical perspective in relation to European basketball.
Alejandro, who is currently Sports Director at theUniversity of Leon in Spain and the Physical Conditioning Coordinator within FIBA Europe Referees Department, has been actively and successfully involved in coaching various youth Spanish National teams in recent years. Testament to this, the bronze medal won at U 18 European Championship Division A in Greece in 2006 (as the Athletic Coach of the team) is one of the highlights of his career. “Alejandro is a great addition to our teaching team” said Alex Radu, Course Leader for the MSc degree, who added: “I am convinced that his contribution will further enhance the list of top class speakers and consequently will positively impact on the quality of the programme that we offer”. Mick Donovan, the Head of the Institute of Sport and Exercise Science at University of Worcester, said: “it shows our commitment to provide all of our MSc students with the opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced lecturers and coaches in European basketball and Alejandro is a great example of this”.
The MSc programme will continue with the Intensive Teaching Block which is scheduled in July/August in Lithuania when a new cohort of students will be added to the existing Year 1 students.
