Lithuania finished the tune-up period for EuroBaset with a 88-80 win
against the Georgian national team in Vilnius. The hosts of the European
Championship suffered plenty of defeats, but finished their last friendly game
with a victory.
The hosts got off to a quick start, taking an 13-4 lead in the first four
minutes, forcing Georgia to call a time-out, but it didn’t change much, as
Lithuanians continued dominating.
However, Georgia got back into the game and had narrowed the lead to a
two-point margin at 27-29 three minutes into the second period and was trailing
only by a single point at the half, as the scoreboard showed 41-40 in favour of
the Lithuanians.
The see-saw battle continued until the fourth quarter, but Lithuania
remained ahead by a couple of points at most times. The home team pulled ahead
once again, opening an 88-78 lead with a couple of minutes to go in the game.
