After beginning the tournament with a shaky victory against Great Britain, Lithuania seemed to have picked up momentum in their second game of EuroBasket. The hosts of the tournament demonstrated solid basketball in the second day of the tournament and left no chances for Poland, defeating the neighbours 97-77 (25-20, 28-28, 23-14, 21-24).

Lithuanians led by only three points (27-24), when Darius Songaila went on to score ten points in a row for Lithuania to give the home team a 41-28 lead.

After returning from the halftime break, Lithuania didn’t step off the gas and kept increasing their lead, which reached 21-points at 68-47 and didn’t even give Poland any thoughts about getting back into the game.

Thomas Kelati was the leading scorer for Poland with 16 points while Dardan Berisa and Szymon Szewczyk added 10 points each.

Lithuania was led by Mantas Kalnietis, who scored a game-high 19 points, grabbed 6 boards in addition to dishing out six assists, while Darius Songaila finished the game with 14 points.

Rimantas Kaukenas followed up his good performance yesterday with an 11-point outing against the Poles, Martynas Pocius had 10 as Sarunas Jaskikevicius and Simas Jasaitis shared 8 points each.
