Jonas
Valanciunas had his first impressive outing of the season, leading Lietuvos
Rytas to a convincing 90-67 (25-17, 20-10, 25-18, 20-20) victory in the
Lithuanian League (LKL) against Neptunas Klaipeda at home in Vilnius on
Thursday evening.
The
visitors managed to put up a fight only for most of the first quarter, but a
22-5 run by Lietuvos Rytas left Neptunas no chances, having opened a 20-point
lead at 47-27, pretty much deciding the outcome of the game.
The
19-year-old Valanciunas scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds in 22
minutes, collecting a total ranking of 28.
Tyrese Rice finished the game with 13 points for Lietuvos Rytas, while Steponas Babrauskashad a good all-around performance of 12 points, five rebounds and three
assists.
Martynas Mazeika led Neptunas in scoring, but committed seven turnovers on the way to his team-high 15 points. Arturas Valeika and Evaldas Dainys finished the game with eight points each, while Raimundas Danys and Arinze Onuaku ended up scoring six each.
