Rudupis
Prienai defeated Baltai 94-85 (16-22, 23-22, 22-15, 17-19, 16-7) after overtime to climb up to first place in the Baltic Basketball League (BBL) standings, extending their
winning streak to four behind their own crowd.
The lead changed hands quite a few times in the game, but it was Rudupis who were ahead in the end of the fourth quarter with a 78-75 edge. However, Zygimantas Janavicius banked in an amazing buzzer-beating three-pointer from half court, taking the game into overtime.
Despite
the emotional lift, Baltai couldn't contain Rudupis' big man Povilas Butkevicius, who finished the game with a double-double once again,
scoring 32 points in 35 minutes and grabbing 12 boards, ending up with a ranking of 46.
Gediminas
Orelikas added 15 points and collected 8 rebounds, as former Zalgiris'
veteran Dainius Salenga finished the game with 11 points for the
hosts.
For the
rivals, the young guard Zygimantas Janavicius managed to score 23 points and dish out 8 assists, Vaidas Cepukaitis scored 14, while Vytenis
Cizauskas and Mindaugas Kupsas scored 11 points each.
Baltai are 9th in the table at the moment, having one victory and four losses in BBL so far, while Rudupis have five wins and just one defeat.
