Having lost a Baltic Basketball League (BBL) game to Siauliai on Thursday, two Triumph Liubertsy players decided to put the defeat in the past with a night out in Siauliai.
However, the night did not end well for Tywain McKee and Jerry Davon Jefferson, as both American players got into a conflict with the security, which ended in both athletes being arrested in a nightclub.
According to an official statement by the police, taser guns were used to contain the two raging Americans, who weren’t obeying the commands of the police officers.
Jefferson was found to have medium alcohol intoxication, while McKee was detected with light intoxication, says the police report.
Both players received a one match suspension by the club and are waiting for further decisions.
The Lithuanian head coach of the Russian team, Valdemaras Chomicius, described the behaviour as unacceptable and told BasketNews.lt that he would like to see both involved athletes sacked.
“Both players will miss Saturday’s game in Ventspils and we’ll make further decisions once we return to Moscow,” said Chomicius.
The two Americans were one of the key players in the team. Jefferson was Triumph’s leading scorer with 16.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, while McKee also played an important role in the team team, averaging 11.8 points.
