Another talented Serbian youngster put his signature on a contract with Zalgiris, as the Lithuanian champions added Uros Petrovic to the team’s prospect list. The 21-year-old forward will be loaned to the club’s farm team Baltai and should make a debut already today against Pieno Zvaigzdes.
Petrovic, who has represented Serbia
internationally at U16 and U18 level, grew up with Hemofarm Vrsac, representing
the club’s youth teams before joining the senior squad in 2008. However, during
the four years he played for Hemofarm, Petrovic didn’t manage to get a bigger
role for the team.
Zalgiris recently announced having signed with
another talented Serbian youngster Andrija Simovic. The 16-year-old prospect
arrived to Lithuania from Nibac Nis and had offers from the two Serbian
powerhouses Partizan and Crvena Zvezda, but chose Zalgiris instead.
“The arrival of foreign prospects is in away
related to Aleksandar Trifunovic, who helps us out by offering some players.
Then we look at them and see if they can be integrated into the team,” said
Sergejus Jovaisa, who is currently serving as a Director of Baltai.
According
to Jovaisa, Simovic is expected to play for the team’s youth side in the
National League (NKL), which is the second division, unlike Petrovic, who is
older by five years and will play in the LKL for Baltai.
