FIBA’s Central Board will hold its second
meeting of 2011 this weekend (10-11 December) in Madrid, Spain, with a
number of key topics on the docket.
The main one is going to be the selection of the two countries to host next year's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments for men and women.
Lithuania and Venezuela are the two remaining bidders for the right to hold the men’s event, while Czech Republic and Turkey are contending for the women’s event.
This means that F.Y.R. of Macedonia and Angola decided not to get in the way of Lithuania and Venezuela, leaving last year's EuroBasket hosts the only European candidate in the bidding process.
