
Zalgiris Kaunas continued their unbeaten run in the Lithuanian League (LKL), defeating the visiting Kedainiai-Triobet 81-60 (21-22, 24-8, 22-10, 19-20) in Kaunas on Saturday night.
Turnovers and missed shots by Zalgiris allowed Kedainiai gain a 10-point lead against the reigning Lithuanian champs in the first quarter, but a 9-0 run got the Greens back in the game, leaving only a one-point edge to the rivals after the first ten minutes.
In the second, Milovan Rakovic's shot quickly tied the game and Zalgiris started increasing their advantage. Just before the break Vaidotas Peciukas was given an unsportsmanlike foul, allowing the home side to finish a 16-0 spurt.
The situation remained the same throughout the second half of the game, as both teams were struggling to score. Zalgiris kept the safe distance from the rivals and claimed their seventh consecutive victory in this years' domestic league, meanwhile Kedainiai-Triobet suffered the sixth defeat out after eight games played.
Mantas Kalnietis led Zalgiris with 15 points, Tomas Delininkaitis added 13, Povilas Butkevicius chipped in with 11.
For Kedainiai-Triobet, Vaidotas Peciukas scored 10 points, Marius Valukonis and Vytenis Jasikevicius had 9, while Vytautas Sulskis finished the game with 7.
