After
qualifying to the Euroleague Top 16 stage, Zalgiris decided to strengthen their
frontcourt with the addition of American big man Reeves Nelson, who was
dismissed from UCLA earlier in the month.
The
20-year-old power forward has already been linked to a move to Lithuania for
quite some time, but the deal was officially confirmed after Zalgiris secured a
spot in the next round of Euroleague with a victory against Zagreb.
The club’s
sporting director Vitoldas Masalskis wasn’t afraid that Nelson’s questionable
character could harm the team, saying that ‘a basketball player is supposed to
be fierce’.
