Zalgiris Kaunas have officially announced that they signed veteran Dainius Salenga until the end of the season, with an option to extend the contract for one more year.
Earlier it was reported that the Latvian reigning champions VEF Riga are close to a deal with 34-year-old Lithuanian forward, but Rudupis director said that no request from the Latvian side was received.
Salenga played for Zalgiris in 2000-2005 and 2007-2011 seasons until he was dismissed after getting into a doping scandal. The player was suspended for six months and later on played with Rudupis Prienai in Eurocup, but failed to make it to the Last 16 round after a tough overtime loss to Aris Thessaloniki.
In the second-strongest European league the player had an average of 12.7 points, 4.8 boards and 3.2 assists per game.
