Simas Jasaitis will have to forget about
basketball for at least a couple of months after undergoing a meniscus repair
surgery in Kaunas on Thursday.
After starting the season quite well for Turk
Telekom, the 29-year-old sharpshooter’s form dipped as the year progressed. However,
that might have been caused by injury problems, which Jasaitis discovered only during
his Christmas visit to Lithuania.
“My leg hurt. I came back to Lithuania for the
holidays and had a small check up with the doctors, who said that I had to have
surgery on the meniscus,” Jasaitis, who will spend another couple of weeks in
Lithuania, before moving to back to Ankara to finish the recovery, told lrytas.lt.
Jasaitis was one of the team’s leaders in the
Turkish Basketball League (TBL) with an average of 9.9 points and 3.9 rebounds
per game. However, the Lithuanian struggled in the EuroChallenge competition,
scoring only 4.8 points, grabbing 3.2 boards per game and missing all 18
attempted three-pointers.
