
Lietuvos Rytas had no answers for CSKA in the second half, losing 67-84 (15-15, 17-22, 19-33, 16-14) to the Russian side in the VTB League on Wednesday evening in Vilnius.
The victory
allowed CSKA to improve to 8-1 in the Group A, while it was the fourth defeat
for the Lithuanian team, which now has a 5-4 record.
Tyrese Rice
led the hosts in scoring with 11 points, Renaldas Seibutis had 10, while
Mindaugas Katelynas and Jonas Valanciunas chipped in with nine and eight
respectively.
Lietuvos Rytas played without Brad Newley, who will be moving to Spain after Valencia Basket bought out his contract with the Lithuanian club.
Andrei
Kirilenko was the game’s leading scorer having dropped 13 points on Lietuvos
Rytas’ defense, Viktor Khryapa and Nenad Krstic both added 12 points for CSKA.
Having lost to CSKA, Lietuvos Rytas are now 0-5 against teams playing in Euroleague. The Vilnius side have lost to Galatasaray, Asseco Prokom, Zalgiris and twice to CSKA.
