Two moves in Lietuvos
Rytas were aligned yesterday evening, but neither of them might come through in
the end, as Crvena Zvezda decided to pull the plug from an already agreed deal,
which would have sent a highly rated 20-year-old Serbian prospect Nemanja
Nedovic to Vilnius.
The talented guard was
set to replace Aleksandar Rasic, who was already getting ready for a transfer
to Olympiacos Piraeus, where he would have played under the supervision of Dusan Ivkovic the coach of the Serbian national team.
The breakdown of
negotiations between Lietuvos Rytas and Crvena Zvezda has in turn put the
transfer of the 27-year-old Rasic on the brink of collapse as well, as the
Lithuanian side wasn’t able to get Nedovic as a replacement.
Both Nedovic and Rasic
are clients of the BeoBasket agency, which has close ties with all three
involved parties - Crvena Zvezda,
Lietuvos Rytas and Olympiacos and the head of the agency Misko Raznatovic was
orchestrating the moves.
However, the negotiations
between Lietuvos Rytas and Olympiacos are still taking place about the possible
transfer of Rasic, who is eagerly awaited in Piraeus by coach Ivkovic.
The Greek club has proposed
a deal to Lietuvos Rytas, which would send the 23-year-old Serbian forward Marko Keselj to Vilnius, while Rasic would continue his career in Olympiacos. The
talks between the sides are still ongoing.
