Zalgiris extended the team's undefeated run to eight games with an 82-66 (27-22, 10-12, 19-19, 26-13) victory over Astana in the VTB League on Sunday in
Kaunas.
The Lithuanian side improved to a 5-5 record,
sharing the fourth spot with Nizhny Novgorod in Group A, while the visitors
from Kazakhstan are seventh in the group with four wins and seven losses.
Astana was down by only three points in the
beginning of the fourth quarter, but Paulius Jankunas scored five unanswered
points to spark an 11-0 run by Zalgiris, which allowed the hosts to seal the
victory.
Sonny Weems, Robertas Javtokas and Paulius
Jankunas all finished the game with a team-high 11 points, Mantas Kalnietis
scored 10, while Tomas Delininkaitis added 9 points for Zalgiris.
American swingman Rawle Marshall was the
leading scorer of the game with 17 points for Astana, Branko Cvetkovic had 14
points and 7 rebounds, while Eric Williams chipped in with 12 points for the
visitors.
