
After a
disappointing start of the Top 16 in Euroleague, Zalgiris picked up another defeat
in the VTB League, losing 79-85 (24-23, 19-27, 17-15, 18-20) to Nizhny Novgorod on the road in Russia on
Saturday.
The
Lithuanian side, which also lost the first meeting between the teams this
season, dropped to a 5-6 record in Group A, while Nizhny Novgorod now have six
wins and five losses.
Nizhny
Novgorod’s Polish big man Michal Ignerski led all scorers with 27 points,
hitting all four three point attempts, Artem Yakovenko had 22 points and seven
rebounds, while Ernest Bremer finished the game with nine points and five
assists.
Marko
Popovic had a team-high 17 points for Zalgiris, Paulius Jankunas scored 15
points and added six rebounds, while Milovan Rakovic chipped in with 10 points.
