Sonny Weems will finish the season with
Zalgiris and will not return to the NBA until next season. Despite the recent
talks about the possibility of the player leaving Lithuania in the coming
weeks, the club has officially denied such rumors.
The team from Kaunas assured 15min.lt that the
contract with Weems has been signed until the end of the season, there is no
possibility of a buyout and no teams have even showed interest in acquiring the
25-year-old American.
The
possibility of Weems leaving Zalgiris was brought up by NBA writer Alex Kennedy
on HoopsWorld.com. It was Kennedy, who first reported that Weems signed a deal
in Lithuania in the summer.
