During the pre-Olympic qualifying tournament in the Venezuelan capital Caracas on Tuesday night, twelve participating teams were allocated into four groups, with Lithuania being drawn together with the hosts Venezuela and Nigeria.
The coach of the Lithuanian national team, Kestutis Kemzura expressed that although the opponents aren't very familiar, they still pose a threat, with which Lithuania will have to deal with.
The post-draw reaction of Kestutis Kemzura
About the draw: “It is hard to comment about Venezuela and Nigeria as we have neither played against them, nor have we seen much of their game. It’s difficult to predict, what we should expect. Most likely, it will be athletic teams and athletic teams are always dangerous. Everyone knows how to play basketball these days, so we’ll have to analyse our opponents and prepare for them.”
About Venezuela: “Venezuela doesn’t belong to the world’s basketball elite, but they are going to be playing at home. That’s why they will become even more dangerous. Of course, we are well capable and have to defeat our opponents in the group. However, it will not be easy.”
