
Despite stepping on the heels of Zalgiris for
31 minutes, Neptunas was outclassed by the Lithuanian champions in the final
period, as the club from Kaunas came away with a 90-67 (19-20, 26-21, 20-18,
25-8) victory from Klaipeda on Sunday.
The hosts had gotten within three points in the
beginning of the fourth quarter after Simas Galdikas converted an and-one play,
before Zalgiris went on a 14-0 run to decide the outcome of the game.
Dainius Salenga, who just recently came back to
the club, had an impressive performance against Neptunas, scoring 27 points on
7-of-9 three pointers, in addition to recording six steals.
The Serbian big man Milovan Rakovic scored 13
points, Mindaugas Kuzminskas also got into double-figures with 10, while
Robertas Javtokas finished the game with nine points for Zalgiris.
For Neptunas, Simas Galdikas had a team-high 18 points, Raimundas Danys scored 11 points, while Laurynas Mikalauskas and Arturas Valeika both finished the game with 10 points.
