
Lietuvos Rytas were forced to work hard for the
victory in Klaipeda against Neptunas, managing to edge the seasiders 91-85 (24-22, 22-19, 22-18, 23-26) in the end in a Lithuanian League (LKL) game on Friday evening.
Jonas Valanciunas scored 16 points for Lietuvos
Rytas, Steponas Babrauskas and Tyrese Rice collected 14 points apiece, with the
latter adding six assists as well, as Lawrence Roberts and Aleksandar Rasic
also reached double-digits with 10 points each.
Martynas Mazeika led all scorers with 19 points
in a losing effort for Neptunas, the Latvian forward Arturs Brunins had 17,
while Simas Galdikas finished the game with 15 points.
It was the fifth consecutive loss for Neptunas,
who now dropped to a 5-9 record, while Lietuvos Rytas are currently at the top
of the league table at 14-2, but have played four more games than the yet to be
beaten Zalgiris.
