Zalgiris came back to victorious ways with a 74-60 win against Kedainiai Triobet in the Lithuania League (LKL) on Saturday.
It was the first game of the reigning champions after Barcelona upset them in Euroleague on Thursday night.
Mantas Kalnietis and Milovan Rakovic scored 13 points each for the winners while Dainius Salenga added 11 points. Aleksandar Trifunovic, the head coach of Zalgiris, used all of his 10 available players with each spending from 13 to 25 minutes on the court.
Zalgiris was still missing two injured key players, Sonny Weems and Marko Popovic.
The visitors scored only 74 points, 15 below an average. The team also lacked aggressiveness and accuracy as they had only 14 free throw attempts and made nine. Moreover, Zalgiris made 19 turnovers and holds fourth place in the league with average turnovers a game.
Nevertheless, Zalgiris controlled the game from the middle of the first quarter and had 17 point lead at halftime after finishing the second quarter with a run of 13-0.
Vidas Ginevicius, who played for Zalgiris between 2000 and 2007, led the hosts with 12 points, Egidijus Dimsa had 11 points and 6 rebounds.
Zalgiris is the only team in the league still to be beaten this season. The reigning champions won all of their 13 games, but stand second after arch-rivals Lietuvos Rytas, who have a 14-2 record.
