Donatas Motiejunas, who is having a great season in Poland with Asseco Prokom, is expected to move across the pond and join the Houston Rockets already next season.
The 21-year-old Lithuanian is being closely monitored by the Rockets scouts, one of which, Arturas Karnisovas, a former Lithuanian basketball star himself, confirmed to ELTA that Motiejunas will most likely come to the NBA after this season.
“We have been watching Donatas the whole season, stressing that he needed to improve rebounding and defense. I think he managed to do that. The fact that he was second in rebounding in the regular season of Euroleague, tells a lot. We’re happy with his progress,” Karnisovas told ELTA.
Motiejunas, who was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 20th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and immediately traded to the Rockets, has been having the best season of his short career, averaging 13.7 points and 7.9 rebounds in Euroleague.
