Lietuvos Rytas registered yet another regular victory in the Lithuanian League (LKL), defeating the visiting Pieno Zvaigzdes 85-67 (8-17, 11-21, 29-18, 19-29) at home in Vilnius on Friday.
Jonas Valanciunas led the hosts in scoring with 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds, but committed six turnovers in an otherwise good performance. Renaldas Seibutis and Tyrese Rice collected 13 points each, while Steponas Babrauskas chipped in with 11.
Pieno Zvaigzdes relied on Leroy Nobles and Eimantas Bendzius for the team’s scoring, as the players scored 17 and 15 respectively, while the only other player in double-digits was Zydrunas Kelys with 11 points and nine assists.
The victory allowed Lietuvos Rytas to improve to 16-2 in the LKL standings, which puts the Vilnius side two losses over the so-far clean 15-0 record of Zalgiris. Pieno Zvaigzdes are now fifth with eight wins in 15 games.
